  • Challenge 02.

Traditionally, within the network we communicate in a symbolic way, we use the language of images and videos as well as our own language to communicate. With the appearance of emojis this changed radically, as they allowed us to generate a message with a body movement in which we recognised its meaning. Thanks to these emojis, conversations began to be enriched in some way by these kinds of gestures and emotions, although they were monopolised by the understanding that a few people had of this non-verbal language. With this project what we have tried to generate is a representation of emotions in a gestural and physical way that allows us to express individual emotions within virtuality.

This challenge was quite critical for Nikita and me as we spent a lot of time trying to connect two operating systems without getting good results. In the end we opted to generate another kind of results without the Kinect sensor and in the end we achieved a satisfactory result.

In this case, we both participated in all the phases of the challenge, we made each other and other MDEF colleagues scans and we both post-processed them in blender. In the final part we divided the video in two parts, script and editing. I was in charge of the editing of all the scenes, choosing as references the ones we showed the first day of the challenge.

In my opinion, this challenge has taught me two very important things, one is that you can reach a result by different ways and the other is that I have to accept when something is beyond my knowledge. In any case, I am very happy with the process of this week, even though we spent most of it looking for paths that had no way out.
